Federico Chavez-Blanco

Composer & Sound Designer

Federico Chavez-Blanco is an Award Winning Composer for Film, TV and the Concert Hall whose work has been heard on networks such as NBC, ABC, PBS, Univision, and Televisa and in renowned Festivals including Cannes, Toronto, NYC Downtown, and West Hollywood.  He has been commissioned by the San Antonio Office of Cultural Affairs to compose “Cosmovision” a contemporary Ballet Suite that incorporates Pre-Hispanic instruments, Mariachi elements and Electronica Music and is being choreographed by Seme Jatib. “Cosmovision’s” music is inspired by the Journey of the cultures that nurtured ours.  Federico is also a voting member of The Recording Academy (GRAMMY Awards) and proud member of NALIP and NALAC. 

Recently, the feature documentary “ From Zimbabwe to Santa Fe”, for which he scored as well as produced the music and served as sound designer, won both Jury and Audience Awards for Best Documentary at the 2012 Riverside International Film Festival.  The film’s score is a blend of indigenous chants and electronic orchestrations.
